All Boy

The other day as Toby, his dad and a friend were loading up trucks to move furniture to storage, Caden and I were outside "supervising". Suddenly, Caden started walking toward the street with his arm pointed out...focused on a large, white, shiny Harley Davidson Motorcycle that was parked across the street. I wish I had gotten a recording of his voice as he we walked across the street to look at this wonder. It would sound something like this:

"OOOHHHH...oooohhhh...aaaahhhh...aaaahhhh..OOOOHHHHH...OOOOOOO....aaaahhhh..."

These sounds went on an on as we walked around the entire motorcycle with Caden pointing and getting so excited. There were even quite a few chuckles and laughs (most from mommy).

Now, the thing that makes it so exciting for me is the fact that we have never specifically pointed out a motorcycle to him, he has never even sat on one. And yet he was so excited! All day, any time we would go outside he wanted to visit the motorcycle. He is such a boy.

Our boy loves to play with sticks. He will pick up anything that even resembles a stick: straw, pen, back-scratcher, broom handle...and then he "fights" with it- uses it like a sword and such. Did we ever show him this? No...not until after he started doing it (OK...I admit, the other day I put a patch over one eye and we played pirates using toy golf clubs) but that was way after he slayed his dragon (the vacuum) with the swiffer duster wand.

It is so fun to watch him explore, play with balls and sticks, drop leaves down the drain, and just do all the things boys do with out ever being told what boys do. Not all the toys he plays with are what I consider "boyish", at daycare he also plays with a baby doll and especially a doll stroller. But in the afternoon, when we pick him up, he will most likely have a car or a dinosaur or a snake in his hand...sometimes he'll be dancing, but still with the dinosaur in his hand!

Oh how I love our little boy!
