Becka- this is for you!
The other night at SIMCO my friend Becka was reading about a place in NC that sells "gourmet popsicles"- they make about 200 flavors. She thought it would be fun to drive over there and try them out. Unfortunately, the only stores are in the Durham area- 2 hours away from Charlotte. Well, lucky for us, we passed through the Durham area yesterday and I had checked to see if there was a shop on our way. There is one in Hillsborough, so we made a pit-stop there.
Hillsborough is a neat little town- it is considered an "Historic Town" due to it having homes from the 18th century and other things. We sat on a bench by a church and fed Caden his lunch then we walked around town a bit to stretch our legs. Finally, we ended up at LocoPops (pictures will come later as the computer we are using won't let us upload pics). It was a small little shop on a side road about a block off of the main street. They had about 20 flavors to choose from - some water based and some fruit based. Toby got a "strawberry guava" one that was really sweet. I enjoyed a "white chocolate mocha" cream based popsicle that tasted like an ice cream bar and was really yummy. Caden had his very first popsicle experience- he enjoyed a Mojito flavored one (ok...it just had mint and lime flavoring- no alcohol). Toby and I shared Caden's with him and I must say it was my favorite of the 3. Caden loved it!!
It was a fun stop in our journey to Williamsburg, VA...definately a more memorable rest stop than the standard fast food joint.
We went to VA Beach today (we'll post pics of that, too...probably on Abtstra) and tomorrow we head to Lynchburg, via Richmond. We'll be visiting two of my high school friends!
